San José State women’s golfer Kajsa Arwefjäll recorded her fourth top-five finish this season as she tied for fourth place at the MountainView Collegiate played at The Preserve at Saddleback in Tucson. The Spartans finished eighth in the team standings.
Arwefjäll shot an even-par 72 in the final round, to finish at five-under par 211. She was among a group of three players that led the tournament on the par 4s, shooting -3 on those holes. She made 10 birdies and 39 birdies in her 56 holes played.
During her final round, she was one-under through her first nine holes, making a birdie on #2 and pars on the other eight holes. After a bogey on #10, she made six straight pars before finishing bogey-par.
Antonia Malate finished tied for 23rd at four-over 220 after shooting a one-under 71 on Sunday. She started her round with a birdie on the first hole and made pars on seven of the next eight holes, the only exception a bogey on the seventh hole. Malate went to two under after making birdies on #10 and #13, but shot bogey-par-bogey over her final three holes for her 71.
Jordyn Parr finished 48th at 228 after shooting a 78 in the final round. Louisa Carlbom shot a 77 for the final round and tied for 49th at 229. Carlbom was three-under on her round through six holes, making three birdies and three pars. She made back-to-back bogeys and was one-under through nine holes. Unfortunately, a triple bogey on #11 and double bogey on #18 contributed to her round of 77. Jadan Gonzalez tied for 53rd at 231 after recording a 79 for her final round.
Oklahoma State shot a 10-under 278 in the final round and overtook Texas for the team title at 20-under par. San José State finished eighth at +22, one shot behind UNLV. The Spartans shot a 298 in the final round.
