San Jose State women’s golfer to represent Sweden at The Spirit

San José State University women’s golfer Kajsa Arwefjäll will be one of four members of Team Sweden who will play at the 2021 Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship presented by the Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation (The Spirit). The Championship will be held November 4-6 at the Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas. Two female and two male amateurs from 20 countries will play for a chance at gold in five concurrent competitions.

Arewfjäll is joined on Team Sweden by Andrea Lignell, (Ole Miss), Albin Berrgstrom (South Florida) and Hugo Townsend (Boise State). Arwefjäll finished in the top-16 of the four tournaments San José State played this fall and had a 72.08 stroke average through 12 rounds played. She is currently ranked 79th on the WAGR and 40th on Golfstat.

The Spirit is a celebration of international goodwill through the game of golf. The championship will be available via livestream during competition on GolfChannel.com, the NBC Sports app and on TheSpiritGolf.com. GOLF Channel will show highlights on December 9 from 7-9 p.m. ET/4-7 p.m. PT, with an encore presentation on December 11 from 4-6 p.m. ET/1-3 p.m. PT.

The 2021 Spirit features 80 competitors from 20 countries and four continents and is a 54-hole, four-ball stroke play competition. The best three scores count each day in the team competition. There are also competitions for women’s team, men’s team, women’s individual and men’s individual.
