Where’s the PGA Tour this week?

This week it is time for Mardi Gras to meet Las Vegas and come together on the PGA Tour as the Waste Management takes place at The TPC Scottsdale in Arizona.

It’s golf’s biggest party and although it has been tamed a bit, it is still unlike anything you will see at any other Tour event.

The famous – or infamous – 16th hole is par 3 stadium golf where 20,000 people surround the entire hole. It’s the only tournament that when the ushers hold up the “Quiet” signs, everyone laughs and the noise continues.

Headlining the field is Scottie Scheffler, the winner of the American Express two weeks ago. The Waste Management is also the site of the first tournament Scheffler won back in 2022.

Scheffler’s win two weeks ago in the American Express gave him his 20th lifetime win which gives him a lifetime exemption of the Tour and made him the third player to surpass $100 million in winnings.

Brooks Koepka returns for his second event after returning from the LIV tour. Last week Koepka played well enough to make the cut at Torrey Pines in the Farmers Insurance Open.

Koepka also won his first PGA Tour title at the Waste Management winning in 2015, then repeating in 2021.

Xander Schauffele is also in the tournament after seeing his consecutive cuts made streak broken at the Farmers.

The defending champion is Thomas Detry who cruised to the win with a score of 24-under. Michael Kim and Daniel Berger tied for second with 17-under scores.

The cutline was 1-under last weekend so while scoring is possible there are some spots where the players can get in trouble, especially if they start pushing.
