Lucia Lopez Ortega and Kajsa Arwefjäll recorded their third top-10 finishes of the season to help the 18th-ranked San José State women’s golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Pac-12 Preview held at the Nanea Golf Course (par 73, 6,449 yards).
- Lopez Ortega shot a 2-under 71 in the final round to tie for sixth place at 3-under 216. She made seven birdies during her round, starting her day with a birdie on her first hole, and led the tournament with 16 birdies made.
- She played her final 11 holes at 5-under par with five birdies and six pars.
- Arwefjäll shot a 1-under 72 on Wednesday to finish tied for 10th at 1-under 218, making two birdies, 15 pars and a bogey during her round.
- She led the tournament in par-4 scoring at 5-under par and tied for the most pars made at 41.
- Darae Chung shot a 78 for the final round and tied for 25th at 5-over 224. She made one birdie and 14 pars.
- Moa Andersson shot a 1-over 74 to finish 34th at 8-over 227, making five birdies during the round.
- Rebecca Gyllner finished tied for 53rd at 242.
- San José State finished the tournament in sixth place at 9-over 885. For the tournament, the Spartans made 49 birdies and 155 pars.
- Sixth-ranked UCLA won the team title at 11-under par, while second-ranked Stanford finished second at 7-under 869.
UP NEXT – The Spartans host two events in the next two weeks. The Battle of the Bay between San José State and Stanford will take place on Thursday, February 29, at CordeValle Golf Club. SJSU and USF co-host the 14-team Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational on March 4 & 5 at Meadow Club near Fairfax, Calif.
