Cal in 13th Ahead of Final Round of Cabo Collegiate

After two rounds at TPC San Antonio, the Golden Bears currently sit in 13th with one round to play.

On Tuesday, freshman Aaron Du recorded the Bears’ lowest score of the round, shooting a 74 (+2). As a result, he moved up 17 spots in the standings and is now tied for 50th with 154 (+10) strokes overall. Freshman Sampson Zheng is in the lead for Cal for the second straight round after delivering a 79 (+7) on Tuesday. The Nagoya, Japan native entered the round tied for ninth, but dropped to a tie for 30th (152, +8) with 18 holes to play. He is currently -1 overall on par 3s which is tied with junior James Song and two others as the fourth best score in the tournament on such holes.

Senior Finigan Tilly is currently tied for 44th. He also shot a 79 (+7) on Tuesday and has Cal’s second-best score overall (153, +9). Song is the final Bears’ scorer. With a score of 78 (+6) in the second round, he is now tied for 61st (156, +12).

Cal will return on Wednesday morning for the third and final round of the Cabo Collegiate. Junior Kyle Maspat will be the first Bear to tee off, beginning at 6am PT in a shotgun format on hole 12. Live stats can be found here.
