Junior Charlie Bundy and sophomore Ziqin Zhou registered resounding individual victories but the California men’s golf team fell to Princeton 4-2 in the match play championship round of the 2025 St. Andrews Links Collegiate.

Bundy registered a 6-up victory while Zhou won 4-up on the St. Andrews Old Course, considered the oldest course in the world and the “home of golf.” Bundy fired a 1-under par 71 in his win while Zhou went 3-under at 69.

The Golden Bears advanced to Wednesday’s match play championship after winning the stroke play portion of the tournament Monday and Tuesday. Cal shot 7-under as a team to beat out Princeton by three strokes.

The St. Andrews Links Collegiate is a unique, intercollegiate competition featuring both men’s and women’s teams from four institutions. Along with Cal and Princeton, Michigan State and the University of St. Andrews rounded out the 2025 field.

The Bears will now return home to the states and prepare for their last tournament of the fall – The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate in Carmel.
