Cal Set to Compete at Hamptons Intercollegiate

California men’s golf will return to the golf course October 4-5 as the Golden Bears will begin the Hamptons Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at Maidstone Club, a par-72, 6,665 yard course.

The Hamptons Intercollegiate will feature twelve teams, primarily from the East Coast: California, Duke, Georgetown, George Washington, Georgia Tech, Liberty, Loyola Maryland, Northwestern, Penn, Princeton, Virginia and Yale.

Here is the lineup Cal will employ next week:

1. Finigan Tilly
2. Costas Panay
3. Ethan Chung
4. Tony Chen
5. Simon Kwon

Individual: Charlie Berridge

This will be graduate student Finigan Tilly’s first tournament of the fall. In 2021, Tilly competed in all six tournaments, amassing a 73.74 stroke average. His best finish came at the Western Intercollegiate where he tied for ninth place. Since beginning his career, he has competed in 25 events for the Bears. At No. 2, redshirt sophomore Costas Panay has participated in both of Cal’s tournaments so far this fall. He opened the season with a tie for 24th at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate before tying for 56th at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational.

Meanwhile, redshirt freshman Ethan Chung heads to New York for his second tournament of the fall. He first competed at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate where he tied for 52nd after finishing with 210 (E) combined strokes. The Hamptons Intercollegiate will be redshirt freshman Tony Chen’s third event of the fall. He is currently averaging 72.8 strokes through six rounds. This will be the second-consecutive tournament for freshman Simon Kwon. In his first outing with the Bears, he tied for 39th (74, 73, 72 – 219, +9) at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invite. Competing as an individual, this will be freshman Charlie Berridge’s first tournament at Cal.
