Safeway Open presented by Chevron to Kick Off PGA TOUR Season September 10-13

The dates for the Safeway Open presented by Chevron at Silverado Resort and Spa have been moved one week earlier on the calendar to September 10-13, 2020, as part of the updates to the new PGA TOUR schedule released today. As many golf events have unfortunately been either cancelled or postponed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the PGA TOUR and other governing bodies in the game of golf are working together to update the schedule of events across the professional golf tours for the remainder of the year.

“We are excited to have our dates confirmed by the PGA TOUR for September,” said Jeff Sanders, President, Lagardere Sports Golf Events, the management company responsible for producing the Safeway Open. “This is a very difficult time in our country and throughout the world and we are hopeful that the PGA TOUR’s return to competition in the near future will provide some joy and a bright light at the end of the tunnel for our fans, while continuing to provide valuable charity dollars to the community. We are looking forward to another great week of world class golf by day and amazing music by night in Napa in September.”

This September will mark the fifth year of the Safeway Open presented by Chevron at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa. The event recently won the PGA TOUR’s “Most Fan First Award,” by combining world-class golf, Napa Valley’s best food and wine and three nightly concerts all included in the daily golf tournament ticket at the most affordable ticket price on the PGA TOUR.

In 2019, the Safeway Open presented by Chevron hosted its strongest player field in its history with many of the world’s top ranked players including: Phil Mickelson, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Bryson DeChambeau, Francesco Molinari, Marc Leishman, Adam Scott and Sungjae Im. Adding to the field were Champions TOUR stars and fan favorites Fred Couples and John Daly along with former NFL star Tony Romo who were given special sponsor invitations. The tournament also featured NBA superstar Stephen Curry paired with Phil Mickelson in the Official Pro-Am presented by Citi.

The Safeway Open presented by Chevron has raised over $8 MILLION for charity in the past four years as 100% of the tournament’s net proceeds support charity.
