SJSU No. 6 Women’s Golf at MountainView Collegiate this weekend!

The sixth-ranked San José State women’s golf team continues their trip to Arizona as they travel to Tucson for the MountainView Collegiate this Friday to Sunday, March 17-19, at the MountainView Golf Club (par 72, 6,352 yards). The field features eight teams ranked in the top-50 on Golfstat.

Friday, March 17 – 18 holes, tee times off holes 1 and 10 starting at 8 a.m.
Saturday, March 18 – 18 holes, tee times off holes 1 and 10 starting at 8 a.m.
Sunday, March 19: 18 holes, shotgun start at 7:45 a.m.

The Spartans finished second to Texas Tech last season by one stroke. Former Spartan Natasha Andrea Oon finished second at 9-under par, while Lucia Lopez Ortega tied for third at 8-under 208.

San José State won the 2009 MountainView Collegiate by nine shots, while Erica Moston won the individual title by two shots.

This season, the San José State women’s golf program is participating in the Fold of Honor Military Tribute Program. The Spartans will carry a golf bag in honor of 2nd Lt Travis A. Morgado who was from San Jose. His life was cut short during active duty in Zharay, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his patrol with an improvised explosive device (May 23, 2012). He also has connections to San José State as his maternal grandparents and an aunt are Spartan alumni.
