After recording her first top-five finish in her young collegiate career, San JosĆ© State women’s golferĀ Lucia Lopez OrtegaĀ has been honored as the Mountain West Women’s Golfer and Freshman of the Week.

- Recorded the best finish of her freshman season as she finished fourth at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational with a six-under 210
- Spartans top finisher of the tournament and first top-10 finish of her Spartan career
- Shot 71-71-68 for her three rounds
- Started the tournament with a hole-in-one on the par-3 #11, 131 yards
- Made her second eagle of the tournament in the second round with a 3 on the par-5,496-yard #15
- Made a birdie on her final hole (#1) of the final round to help San JosƩ State secure its second consecutive tournament title win and second consecutive title over #1 Stanford
- Second in the tournament in par-3 scoring at -3 and par-5 scoring at -7
