Back in action this weekend, the San José State women’s golf team shot a seven-over 295 and is ninth after the first round of the MountainView Collegiate at The Preserve at Saddleback in Tucson, Ariz.
Kajsa Arwefjäll shot the low round of the day for the Spartans with an even-par 72 and is tied for 20th. She made two birdies, 14 pars and two bogeys during her round.
Jordyn Parr and Louisa Carlbom are tied for 39th after each shot a two-over 74. Each of them recorded three birdies during the round.
Jadan Gonzalez is tied for 43rd at three-over 75. She made three birdies during her round and recorded her first eagle of the season on the par-five #3.
Antonia Malate rounded out the scoring with a four-over 76. She was two-over after her first nine holes (10-18) but went to six-over after playing the par-four #1. She made four birdies over her last eight holes but also had a double-bogey in that stretch to finish at 76.
Texas leads the team standings at 16-under, 272, followed by Houston and Iowa State at 10-under 278.
The Spartans begin the second round on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. off of #10.
