During 2021, Lopez Ortega finished in the top-five in three tournaments. She placed fourth at the 2021 Spanish Amateur Championship where she finished the four-round tournament with 71-72. She won the Memorial Celia Barquin Copa Principado de Asturias and finished second at the Campeonato de Madrid. Lopez Ortega won three of her four matches played in International Match Play versus Sweden this past February. She also won the 2020 Golf East Mallorca Cup and was ninth at the 2020 Spanish Ladies Amateur Championship.
“We are thrilled to have Lucia join our program. She brings extensive international experience and has been playing really well recently,” said Dormann. “She has a proven track record in match play success competing with the Spanish National Team. We cannot wait to welcome her to San Jose!”
