Three San José State women’s golfers recorded their best collegiate finishes on Tuesday as Rebecca Gyllner, Darae Chung and Tessa Kremser all finished in the top-10 at the Illini Women’s Invitational at the Medinah Country Club. The 11th-ranked Spartans finished fourth in the team standings at 10-under 854.
- Gyllner and Chung tied for ninth place at 4-under 212. Gyllner shot a 5-under 67 in the final round, her lowest collegiate round. She recorded her first eagle made this season on the par-5, 16th hole.
- Chung finished the tournament with a 1-over 73 in the final round. She made three birdies and 11 pars in the final round.
- Tessa Kremser, playing as an individual, had the best finish by Spartan as she was fifth at 6-under 210.
- Kremser recorded her first top-10 finish in just her third collegiate tournament played. She made five birdies and 12 pars in the final round.
- Kajsa Arwefjäll and Lucia Lopez Ortega finished tied for 27th at 1-over 217.
- Arwefjäll shot a 4-under 68 in the final round and had a clean card with an eagle, two birdies and 15 pars made.
- Arwefjäll’s first eagle of the season came on the par-4, 492-yard fourth hole.
- Lopez Ortega shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday, making three birdies and 12 pars.
- The Spartans shot their best round of the tournament with an 8-under 280 to finish fourth at 10-under. LSU swept the titles, winning the team championship at 27-under, and Latanna Stone winning a tiebreaker over teammate Ingrid Lindblad for the individual championship.
