Louisa Carlbom and Jadan Gonzalez are in the top-20 after the first round of the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa. San José State is tied for sixth with Oregon at seven-over 295.
Carlbom and Gonzalez are tied for 13th at one-over 73. Carlbom made her first collegiate eagle Monday on the par-five #5, and made two other birdies during her round. She was one-under par after nine holes, but two bogeys and seven pars over her final nine holes left her at one-over for the day.
Gonzalez was three-over after her first nine holes, making three birdies and six pars. She was four-over after 12 holes, but finished her final six holes with three consecutive pars and then three birdies.
Kajsa Arwefjäll is tied for 21st at two-over 74. She was one-over at the turn, making eight pars and a bogey. Arwefjäll started the back nine with three consecutive pars, but followed that with three bogeys and a par to be four over after 16 holes. She finished her round with back-to-back birdies to shoot her 74.
Antonia Malate is tied for 32nd at three-over 75. She made three birdies during her round, starting the day with back-to-back birdies on holes two and three. She added another birdie on #16, but two bogeys and two double bogeys found her at 75 for the round.
Jordyn Parr finished the day tied for 47th at five-over 77. She started the day with back-to-back pars and a birdie to go to one-under par. For the day, she made 12 pars during her round.
San José State is tied with Oregon at seven-over 295, seven shots away from UCLA who leads the field at even-par 288. The top-eight teams are all with eight shots of each other. Individually, Ellie Slama of Oregon State and Stefanie Deng of Washington are first after shooting a five-under 67.
