The CareerBuilder Challenge takes place this week in the California desert and if history is any indicator, expect low scores.
Last year the tournament was won by Hudson Swafford, who shot a 20-under-par. Adam Hadwin was one shot back, with Bud Cauley and Brian Harman coming in at 18-under.
So, what happens this week? If you are playing any fantasy golf leagues, this is a good time to take some chances on some of the younger players/rookies on the tour. While some of the best players in the world could be entered in the tournament they are in fine tune mode for another few weeks.
That doesnât mean they wonât win a tournament, it just means they are big picture guys. The young, new players to the Tour want to make the most they can out of the early season, hoping to earn money to travel on the rest of the season and sooth the anxiety of their sponsors.
After having Sony Open winner Patton Kizzire on my roster last week, letâs try to catch lightning in a bottle for the second straight tournament.
In my salary cap contest my lineup is: Brian Harmen, Beau Hossler, Johnson Wagner, Nick Watney, Ryan Palmer and Bud Cauley. My One and Done (once you pick a player you canât use them for the rest of the year) is Phil Mickelson.
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Classic, European Tour event is a loaded field as well, including Americanâs Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar.
Rory McIlroy is also entered in the field and is already popping off about the Ryder Cup, getting the intensity started before we are even out of January!
