San José State men’s golfer Kristopher Stiles will tee off in the first round of the U.S. Amateur on Monday at 6:06 a.m. (PT) from The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J. Stiles is playing in his first U.S. Amateur after shooting a 68 in the final round and a 141 overall (-3) in the U.S. Amateur qualifying from Crystalaire Country Club in early July. His teammates, Caleb Shetler and Kotaro Murata, both played in the U.S. Amateur a year ago. Head coach John Kennaday will be Stiles’ caddie for the tournament.
“This is a tremendous opportunity Kris has earned,” Kennaday said. “You never forget your first major tournament and we looking forward to a long week in New Jersey.”
