Antonia Malate tied her best round of the season and opened up a three-shot lead at 7-under 137 after two rounds of the Silverado Showdown. The San José State women’s golf team remained atop the team leaderboard at 1-over 577.
- Malate tied her best round of the season with a four-under 68 on Tuesday. She holds a three-shot lead over Alessandra Fanali of Arizona State.
- Malate had a strong start to her round, making seven pars, one birdie and an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole to be three-under after nine holes. She made four birdies, three bogeys and two pars to finish the round at 4-under 68.
- Malate was one of two players in the field to shoot in the 60s during the second round. The other was Caitlyn Macnab of TCU who jumped up to a tie for third place at 2-under 142.
- As a team, San José State shot the low round of the day with a two-over 290. The Spartans have an eight-shot lead over No. 2 Oregon and nine-shot lead over No. 11 Texas A&M.
- Kajsa Arwefjäll is now tied for fifth at even-par 144 after shooting a 1-over 73 during the second round. She started round making three birdies over her first six holes but then went bogey, triple bogey to find herself at one-over through eight holes. Arwefjäll then made 10 consecutive pars to finish her round at 73.
- Natasha Andrea Oon moved into a tie for 7th at 1-over 145 after shooting a 73 in the second round. Not wanting to miss out on the eagle action, Oon made her first of the season on the par-4, 390-yard 13th hole.
- Lucia Lopez Ortega is tied for 39th at 7-over 151, while Louisa Carlbom is 75th at 14-over 158.
San José State begins final-round action on Wednesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
