It is time for the final silly season of golf event to take place following the final big tournament of 2020 – the Masters.
There is only one event on the books now as others took place during the lull from the COVID-19 pandemic that put golf – and all sports – on a hiatus. Usually there might be 2-3 different kind of charity matches taking place this time of year. The unique year has left us with – The Match: Champions for Change taking place on November 27.
It is going to have a bit different of a feel as the Match will be between the team of Phil Mickelson-Charles Barkley taking on Steph Curry and Peyton Manning.
The Match will take place at the Stone Canyon Golf Club in Arizona, a course owned by the Mickelson Golf Properties. It will take place at 12 noon PDT and will be telecast on TNT.
With different levels of play, handicaps will certainly be involved. The format will be modified alternate shot. All players will hit tee shots, after which each team will choose their preferred tee ball to play toward the hole.
Barkley has guaranteed a win in press conferences leading up to the event, so it will be great to see his wild game on display as opposed to having him behind the mic.
The event will once again include players being mic’d up, with cameras inserted in their golf carts. It should be a fun way to relax on the day after Thanksgiving.
