Weezer to perform at Safeway Open!

The Safeway Open presented by Chevron announced today that Grammy Award-winning rock band Weezer will headline the Safeway Concert Series at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, CA, on Friday, Oct. 5.

The Safeway Open and Safeway Open Concert Series will provide fans with an authentic Napa experience, bringing together world-renowned local chefs and wineries, popular musicians and the world’s best golfers all on one stage. The Safeway Open PGA TOUR event played at Silverado Resort and Spa this Oct. 4-8 will again feature a concert series with three consecutive nights of music after golf, featuring Weezer, multi-platinum singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw and a third act to be announced in the coming weeks.

“We are very excited to bring in Weezer as the headliner for the Safeway Open Concert Series,” said Jeff Sanders, Executive Director of the Safeway Open. “We had three great nights of music last year, and our goal is to make it even bigger this year. Weezer will be amazing.”

Formed in Los Angeles in 1992, Weezer has sold 9.2 million rock albums in the U.S. and more than 17 million records worldwide. Most recently their self-titled album, released in April of 2016, was nominated for best rock album at the 2017 Grammy Awards. Their single Feels Like Summer is currently at number 11 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Songs.

In 2016, the Safeway Open Concert Series featured X Ambassadors, Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum and Third Eye Blind.

This year the shows will be held on the Chevron Stage at the Silverado Resort and Spa immediately following completion of the golf tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Gavin DeGraw will kick off the Safeway concert series Thursday night Oct. 5 and Weezer will play immediately following golf Friday night Oct. 6. The Safeway Open and Lagardere plan to announce the third band that will perform on Saturday night Oct. 7, in a few weeks.

Daily tickets to the Safeway Open PGA TOUR event are on sale now and include admission to the Safeway Open Concert Series, as well as the 27,000-square foot Safeway Food and Wine Pavilion and on-site food, wine, beer and spirits venues. No additional cover charges are required.

The event is in its second year with Safeway as the title sponsor and hosts many of the best golfers in the world as they compete Thursday through Sunday for a $6.2 million-dollar purse, with $1.116 million to the winner. In 2016 the field of 144 golfers included elite players such as Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Justin Thomas, Webb Simpson and Paul Casey.
