The California Interscholastic Federation Northern California High School Girls’ Golf Championship were held November 8 at the Berkeley Country Club where three teams and nine individuals qualified for the State Championships.
The CIF State tournament will be held Nov. 16 at Poppy Hills.
Valley Christian of San Jose was first in the team competition with a score of 391, earning the top qualifying mark for state. Granite Bar (402) and Palo Alto (403) were second and third, taking the final two team spots.
Individual Jaclyn LaHa of Amador Valley was one of three golfers to come in at a one-over 73. LaHa tied with Olivia Duan (Cupertino) and Kara Lee (Dougherty Valley) at 73, but edged the other two with an eagle on the second playoff hole. Duan beat out Lee for the second state berth, with Lee finishing with the third spot.
Adora Liu (Irvington, 76) earned the No. 4 state spot, edging out Amy Na (Pleasant Valley, 76, 5th state spot), Michelle Wood (Mission San Jose, 76, 6th spot), Sophia Thai (Los Altos, 76, 7th), Nikki Iniakov (Stevenson, 77, 8th), and Camille Thai (Los Altos, 77, 9th).
Sydney Sung (Palo Alto, 74), Ellie Bushnell (Granite Bay, 76), Varnika Achanta (Valley Christian, 77), and Franky Sumcad (Valley Christian, 77) also advanced to State as members of the three qualifying teams.
