Here we sit, just a touch of over one week away from the Kentucky Derby. And a week before Derby weekend leaves us with very few graded races.
In fact, there is all of one this Saturday. That takes place at Santa Anita with the Grade III Royal Heroine.
But before we get into that race, let’s focus on our FREE Kentucky Derby Handicapping Pick’em contest we will be holding at the Pleasanton OTB on May 2.
The contest is simple – pick the winner of the seven stakes races on the Derby card at Churchill Downs, as well as pick the winner of the Kentucky Derby.
In each race, fill in the winner’s name with the point totals being scored on a 5-3-1 basis, based on in your pick finishes in the top three spots.
The official entry forms will be available starting Thursday, April 30 at the Pleasanton OTB. Please fill out everything on the entry, including your name – don’t laugh we have 2-3 people not put a name on their entries every contest we hold.
Now the fun part – the prizes!
Once again, this contest is FREE to enter, with the only requirement being that you must be present at the Pleasanton OTB on the day of the Kentucky Derby in order to win any6 of the prizes!
For this contest, first place will be $500! That’s right, $500 big ones for the winner! Second place will pay $250, with third place worth $150.
The races in the contest are the Turf Sprint, the Pat Day Mile, the Distaff Turf Mile, Distaff, the Churchill Downs, the American Turf, the Turf Classic, and the Kentucky Derby.
The order of the races will be on the entry form.
