We had driven by Swirl on the Square numerous times but had never taken the time to stop and visit.
I had heard they serve local wines and have a small tasting room where local wineries without a brick-and-mortar location, would be pouring their wines for tasting.
Still, with no shortage of wineries to visit in the area, we just never felt a need to stop by Swirl.
That changed last weekend and we loved it.
Located at the corner of Railroad and North Livermore, there is plenty of drive by traffic, but from the outside it appears to be an older building, not particularly big.
But with plenty of parking spaces in the lots behind the building, there is every reason to stop and check it out. We were late to the party but now that we have been, we’ll be back.
Swirl is just one of the businesses that share the property, with an outside common area providing a perfect spot to relax, listen to live music on the weekends, and enjoy a variety of dining and beverage options.
For now, I will talk only about Swirl, but there are other options that may entice a visitor. Swirl offers a variety of wines, focused mainly on local wines. There are options available by the glass or by the bottle.
The food options include the F-Bomb, their amazing homemade focaccia with a variety of toppings.
On our visit we chose the Chicken Pesto Bomb, and it was awesome! The two of us split an order and it was the perfect size.
There are appetizer options featuring treats such as marinated olives, truffled popcorn, Bavarian pretzels, house-made artichoke bread, and a hummus plate.
Some of the other F-Bomb selections are The F-Bomb (Focaccia sandwich with house cream cheese blend, fig jam, prosciutto, and arugula.
The Mushroom Cloud (Focaccia with smoked Gouda, mushrooms, arugula, and balsamic glaze), and the Focaccia Avocado Toast (freshly sliced avocado, and perfect seasonings).
The price point is certainly fair and perhaps more reasonably priced than other places. We paid $13 for our Chicken Pesto Bomb and were very satisfied.
There are also several flatbread options, a pair of salad choices, and there is a sourdough pizza option that runs out of the building as well.
There was a decent crowd, and it appeared many were regulars, something that always speaks well for a business.
The hours for business are 5 p.m.-9 p.m. of Wednesday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, 1 p.m.-10 p.m. on Friday, 12 p.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday, and 12 noon-7 p.m. on Sunday.
