Thursday February 25 marked 352 days between competitive rounds for the San José State women’s golf team. The Spartans played with Stanford and California at the Stanford Golf Course and finished second among the teams by shooting a 299 in each round for a 598.
San José State’s last round played was March 10, 2020, at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational.
Kajsa Arwefjäll finished third among the 20 individuals, shooting a three-over 145 on the par-71 course. She shot a two-over 73 in the first round, making 14 pars, three bogeys and a birdie on the par-four #15, and had a stretch of 10 consecutive pars made. Arwefjäll then shot a one-over 72 in the second rounds with three birdies made.
Antonia Malate shot six-over 148 to finish fifth. She shot 73-75 for her two rounds, making three birdies in each round and tying for the second-most birdies made.
Jadan Gonzalez finished tied for 10th at 11-over 153. She started a day with a birdie on her first hole of the day and was one over through 15 holes. Gonzalez recorded only one birdie during the second round.
Two Spartans played their first collegiate rounds. Jordyn Parr shot 77-78 to finish tied for 13th at 155. Louisa Carlbom shot an 81 in the first round and had a six-shot improvement in the second round with her 75 to finish 16th at 156.
San José State next plays at the Gunrock Invitational next Monday and Tuesday in Sacramento.
