San José State sophomore women’s golfer Kajsa Arwefjäll has been named the Mountain West Women’s Golfer of the Week for her performances at the Stanford Dual and Gunrock Invitational.
At the Stanford Dual, Arwefjäll tied for third place, shooting a three-over 145 on the par 71 course and leading the team to a second-place finish.
This past Monday and Tuesday, Arwefjäll finished tied for third with teammate Antonia Malate at eight-under 208 at the Gunrock Invitational. Arwefjäll recorded her first collegiate rounds in the 60s – shooting a three-under 69 in the first round and a team-best four-under 68 in the final round. She added a one-under 71 in the second round.
At the Gunrock Invitational, San José State recorded some of the best rounds in school history – five-under 284 in the first round, tying for the eight-best score; and a four-under 285 in round two, tying for the ninth-best score. The final score of 856 (-8) is the second-lowest 54-hole total in school history.
For the week, Arwefjäll played five rounds and had a 70.60 stroke average to lead the Spartans.
