Links at Squaw Creek to open July 1

Snow still may be falling in Lake Tahoe, but Resort at Squaw Creek, a Destination Hotel, is already planning for a busy summer season. Today, the resort announced that it will open the Links at Squaw Creek on July 1. The resort is slightly delayed in opening the course due to historic snowfall this winter.

The Links at Squaw Creek is a championship course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The magnificent, links-style greens are nestled in the meadow of Olympic Valley, surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Sierra Nevada. The resort is committed to promoting a high-quality, environmentally conscious golf course to ensure a safe haven for both people and wildlife. As a result the course is part of the Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary program and uses the most ecologically sound maintenance practices available.

The resort’s commitment to nature is rivaled only by its commitment to creating the best guest experience possible. This is illustrated in the golf course’s range of amenities and services. Standard green fees include a golf cart, warm-up session and complementary valet service. Group, individual and playing lessons are all available with PGA Professional staff. Plus, there are junior, women, and beginner clinics available all season long.

Golfers that plan to play numerous times throughout the summer can opt for a Golf Season Pass which is $619 for unlimited play, while a single round is $99. Families looking to play a quick, easy game can take advantage of the Family Lake Tahoe special, which is every night after 5 p.m. and for $40, includes half-price rental clubs and is free for children under 17 when accompanied by an adult.

Beyond traditional golf, FootGolf is back by popular demand this summer.. The sport, a cross between golf and soccer, takes place on the Links at Squaw Creek on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5 p.m. until dark, all summer long. Cost is $20 per adult and includes a complimentary beer. Kids are $10 and there is a $5 ball rental fee. Players can bring their own soccer ball. For tee times, please call the Golf Pro Shop at (530) 581-6637.
